The Academic Council is the collegial governing body of the Institute, formed for a term of five years. Its composition is approved by an order of the President of the Institute within five working days from the end of the term of the previous Academic Council.
The Academic Council of the Institute:
- defines the strategy and prospective directions for the development of the Institute’s educational, scientific, and innovative activities;
- approves changes and additions to the draft Charter of the Institute;
- approves the financial plan and the annual financial report of the Institute;
- defines the system and approves procedures for internal quality assurance in higher education;
- makes decisions on the placement of own revenues in the territorial bodies of the central executive authority in charge of treasury services for budget funds or in banking institutions;
- makes decisions on the creation, reorganization, and liquidation of structural units;
- approves educational programs and curricula for each level of higher education and specialty;
- makes decisions on the organization of the educational process and determines the duration of studies at the respective levels;
- approves the sample and procedure for issuing higher education documents, including joint and dual degrees;
- determines the main directions for scientific research and innovation activity;
- evaluates the scientific and pedagogical activities of structural units;
- awards academic titles such as Professor, Associate Professor, and Senior Researcher and submits relevant decisions to the Certification Board of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine;
- makes final decisions on the recognition of foreign higher education documents, academic degrees, and academic titles when hiring teaching, research, and other staff, as well as when admitting applicants for studies;
- makes final decisions on the recognition of higher education documents issued by institutions of higher spiritual education, whose statutes (regulations) are registered in accordance with the law, when admitting applicants for studies;
- considers other matters of the Institute’s activities according to the Charter.
